What is barefoot bar therapy?Clients who love Deep Tissue Massage should try Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage. I love offering Ashiatsu here in the DFW area because we have an active, health conscious community. I always get a lot of various athletes, clients who are actively trying to reduce their stress-levels, and who enjoy Deep Tissue Massage but are sometime left with the feeling that some muscle groups were missed in a traditional deep tissue massage. Who should stay away from barefoot bar therapy?
Definitely don't book a barefoot bar therapy session if...
Last but not least...Make sure you fill out your medical history and intake form to the fullest at your first massage session and inform us of any changes in your health every time you come in. We want to make the session perfectly tailored to you so all the information we ask for is very important. It seems like a hassle but it will insure that your massage is created just for you.

Looking for the deepest "deep tissue" massage in town?
It's time to see, Hillary at The Heeling Hut to sweep, swirl, and relax your muscles with Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage . Wanna know why? Well, after a few of Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage sessions, you can expect to experience better posture and easier movement as well as sweet relief from muscular pain! I've been giving Ashiatsu Massage to Dallasites since 2011 and they all rave about the benefits they experience from just one session. Here's the deal... Barefoot Massage, sometimes called Ashiatsu, is a massage that uses deep compression strokes which glide over your body. Gravity combined with centrifugal + centripetal movements can create a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. We use compression strokes along the lumbar region and paraspinals that can relieve muscle spasms and open the intervertebral foramen. This helps give the surrounding nerves more space and relieves any pressure on the nerve that might be causing pain. The movements used in my Barefoot Massage escape sessions help to decompress and elongate your spine. These movements can dramatically stretch shortened muscles relieving discomfort and back pain. It also provides a deeply relaxing experience + is often referred to as the deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet. During a Barefoot Massage session, we use a monitoring technique called the "pain scale" to ensure that the client is always in charge of the amount of pressure being used by the therapist. While Ashiatsu is a form of deep tissue work, the client should never feel pain. Many clients have reported a relaxing benefit and we like to keep it that way! Don't fear the foot :) You as the client are always in charge during the massage. Scheeduling your next ashiatsu barefoot massage is easy and an experience that you don't want to miss if you're a deep tissue massage lover I'll see you soon! ![]() Barefoot massage does so many good things for your body in general, but it has some wonderful benefits for your spine specifically. The deep compression and gliding movements along the thick muscles that run the length of the spine helps to melt the deep facial layers and release trigger points, adhesions, and facial restrictions. This helps get everything including the vertebra themselves loosened up and moving freely again. If that sounds good to you, you'll love the advanced techniques of this style. The skilled foot of the barefoot therapist can create an awesome push-pull-pumping effect on the soft tissues around the vertebral disks that can reposition the nucleus pulposus ( a jelly like substance in side the spinal disk), moving back to it's central position, which in turn relieves spinal nerve irritations. These irritations can be the root cause for muscle weakness, pain, numbness, and tingling in the arms, legs, or areas of the back and neck. Barefoot massage is one of the best treatments for spinal deviations like scoliosis and hyperkyphosis, because it helps traction and decompress the entire vertebral column as well as deeply addressing tight paraspinal muscles that get pulled in unnatural ways from the exaggerated misalignment caused by either of these conditions. Some other conditions of the spine that have benefitted from deep barefoot massage techniques are:
![]() Many of the barefoot stokes stretch and elongate the spine as well as compress and heat the tissues which energize them and rehydrate them with blood and oxygen. So if you've been curious about barefoot massage but it sounds too "out there" or painful, I suggest giving it a try. With all these benefits, It could be the exact massage style that you've been looking for. Oh! and to ease your fear that it maybe painful to recieve, it's been described as "The deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet." So not only does it get in deep therapeutically, it also feels relaxing and luxurious too! Did I convince you to give it a try? what are your thoughts on this method of deep tissue massage?? This weekend I hosted a Fijian massage class in my office and we had a blast! Many thanks to Jessica Harrison-Davis for coming to Richardson and teaching us this awesome work! Jessica was one of the few instructors to be trained by the founder of Fijian massage before she retired. She works at the Tanglewood resort in Pottsboro, TX and offers relaxation massage, deep tissue techniques, plus Ashiatsu and Fijian Massage. Fijian massage (from the islands of Fiji) was developed by Lolita Knight over the past 20 years or so. The Fijian people are hard working folks and massage is very much a part of their culture to ensure that they can do their everyday work in top physical condition. This type of massage is another barefoot modality (style), meaning the therapist uses their feet to give the massage. It's remarkable how feet make the most effective massage "tools." Sure, hands feel great but when you're wanting DEEP work, feet are much better at getting in to the thicker layers of tissue where nasty trigger points or "knots" like to hang out. Not only is it deep work, but the larger surface area of the heel or the outside edge of the foot makes it relatively pain free- no bony elbows or knuckles to worry about. ![]() I also love the fact that the client doesn't have to undress to get the full benefit of this massage. It can be done anywhere and is very versatile. I KNOW that I will be offering Fijian instead of the typical chair massage when I do events from now on! ![]() We worked for two days in my office learning and practicing. We were discovering new ways to use our feet, how to apply pressure, and use specific movements to give the deeper but gentler massage. It satisfies those clients wishing for deeper pressure and is effective for treatment of deep trigger points, scar tissue, and sore tight muscles. Not to mention, it's very soothing and relaxing. Now it's time for me to really study and practice the techniques before adding it to my massage menu. I'm sure my husband will be happy to be my practice body! ![]() Questions: Are you stuck in a rut with traditional massage or an adventurous massage therapy connoisseur ???
