Get the best deep tissue massage in Dallas, Texas. Dallas, Texas - Deep Tissue Massage: What you need to know about the deepest, deep tissue massage available. By Hillary Arrieta, Owner of The Heeling Hut Barefoot Massage in Plano Texas. Barefoot massage, sometimes called Ashiatsu, is arguably the deepest, deep-tissue massage available at your local Dallas massage studio, The Heeling Hut Barefoot Massage. With an exotic name and slightly intimidating equipment, Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage is when the licensed massage therapist uses their feet instead of their hands to give you a massage. The result is the most profound, consistent pressure you can ask for. It's a misconception that Deep tissue is just a DEEPER Swedish massage. Swedish massage, when done correctly, is a system that includes four kinds of techniques and joint mobilizations. Many therapists skip strokes and use long-flowing movements making it less effective. Deep tissue is a collection of actions that get to the deeper layers of tissue. Most clients who love Deep massages tell me that barefoot ashiatsu massage is the BEST deep tissue massage they've ever had = locally or on vacation. When massage therapist uses overhead bar support, they can use their weight instead of forcing pressure using pokey elbows and knuckles into their muscles. Getting the best massage in the Dallas area is easy with a well-trained massage therapist.

Get the best Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage with these tips.By Hillary Arrieta, LMT
The Heeling Hut Barefoot Massage and Wellness. Plano, Texas. When you invest in massage therapy as a way of self-care, it's natural to wonder how you can benefit most from your appointments. I'm here to share with you the habits that will get you the results you want in no time. When I start working with a client, we typically discuss their goals for their session. Clients are often trying to get rid of nagging pain, or they want to create a habit of getting massages more frequently. In the case of the first intention, I always suggest that they come in more regularly so I can help them overcome the musculoskeletal pain they might be experiencing at that time. It could be coming from stress or an injury. Either way, seeing them at least every other week three or four times is an excellent way to start. In the case of the second intention, We schedule standing appointments. They may choose a quarterly block or book appointments for the entire year. They get their preferred time every week or month and don't have to worry about scheduling. They already have all their sessions booked. Advanced booking makes it easy for them to make it a regular habit. Also, it's vital to always talk to your massage therapist about your health history and history of injuries. We can formulate the most customized session for you when we know everything. Working with a licensed therapist who knows you personally is a game changer for sports injuries, enhanced athletic performance or if you're dealing with life-related tension building up. I'm here to help you with your self-care or wellness goals. Was this blog helpful? Leave a comment! I'd love to hear from you. Hi! Did you know Gaia Bodywork is now The Heeling Hut Barefoot Massage and Wellness? I recently changed the name of my massage practice to reflect the changes happening over the last few years. I've slowly grown my massage practice into a Barefoot Massage-only studio. After all the changes going on, what's one more? With this mindset, I retired Gaia Bodywork and revamped it as The Heeling Hut. You'll find more Ashiatsu and Barefoot Massage offerings as my transformation continues. The Heeling Hut will continue with GB's legacy of being Dallas, Fort Worth's premier Ashiatsu studio - now fully adopting the technology into each and everything I offer. It makes sense because I've been teaching Ashiatsu as an approved teacher with the Center for Barefoot Massage for the past four years. I'm so proud to be a part of this strong group of women taking Westernized Ashiatsu to the next level with their style, FasciAshi. Utilizing Jeni Springs's proprietary "Ashi Strap" technique, it's a thing of beauty. I hope my new name inspires my students and that my clients embrace all the changes. It's been a season. :) In Joy! Hi! I’m Hillary Arrieta and I help people improve their lives by offering holistic solutions to ease stress, eliminate pain, and inspire self care practices. Texas MT 040051 By Hillary Arrieta This year, I joined the teaching crew at the Center for Barefoot Massage. Since January I've been working my soles off and taking a deep dive in to Ashiatsu. Even though I've already trained for years in this technique, This process showed me that I'd barely scratched the surface. There's so much to refine, and polish before I could bring Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage classes to Dallas. I've been lucky enough to have Strong mentors and students who teach me the intricate details of my work. When you teach, you learn too. September was my final teacher evaluation in the teacher training program and I had it in my brand new teaching studio. It's small but MIGHTY!! I'm so grateful to the students who challenged themselves physically and mentally through this three day workshop to learn or fine tune their skills. I'll be teaching a semi-monthly Ashiatsu classes here in DFW for 2018 and I'll be adding some new barefoot massage modalities and workshops to the training schedule in 2019. I've been wanting to bring more barefoot massage to Dallas and to the North Texas area for a long time and it's finally happening. Trainings are open to any licensed massage therapist. Find out more at on our Texas Ashiatsu training website.

Class isn't the time to work out your tissue issues and if you're not prepared, you may have some mild adverse reactions to so much deep work over so little time. Hydration, stretching, working on foot dorsiflexion and mobility as well as hip, knee, leg strength/mobility will give you more confidence during your workshop. Barefoot bar therapy is a special type of massage where the massage therapist uses their feet instead of their hands to give the client a deep, consistent amount of pressure. It's also called Ashiatsu. There are many types of barefoot massage from all over the world. Some examples are, Fijian massage from Fiji and Chavutti Thirumal from India. |
What is barefoot bar therapy?

This style is not for those who want a soft touch. Barefoot bar therapy is deep tissue massage by design. It can't be done lightly so anyone who is sensitive to pressure would need to steer clear of this style. Other contraindications for barefoot bar therapy are:

It's time to see, Hillary at The Heeling Hut to sweep, swirl, and relax your muscles with Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage . Wanna know why? Well, after a few of Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage sessions, you can expect to experience better posture and easier movement as well as sweet relief from muscular pain! I've been giving Ashiatsu Massage to Dallasites since 2011 and they all rave about the benefits they experience from just one session.
Here's the deal...
Barefoot Massage, sometimes called Ashiatsu, is a massage that uses deep compression strokes which glide over your body. Gravity combined with centrifugal + centripetal movements can create a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. We use compression strokes along the lumbar region and paraspinals that can relieve muscle spasms and open the intervertebral foramen. This helps give the surrounding nerves more space and relieves any pressure on the nerve that might be causing pain. The movements used in my Barefoot Massage escape sessions help to decompress and elongate your spine. These movements can dramatically stretch shortened muscles relieving discomfort and back pain.
It also provides a deeply relaxing experience + is often referred to as the deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet. During a Barefoot Massage session, we use a monitoring technique called the "pain scale" to ensure that the client is always in charge of the amount of pressure being used by the therapist. While Ashiatsu is a form of deep tissue work, the client should never feel pain.
Many clients have reported a relaxing benefit and we like to keep it that way!
Don't fear the foot :) You as the client are always in charge during the massage.
Scheeduling your next ashiatsu barefoot massage is easy and an experience that you don't want to miss if you're a deep tissue massage lover
I'll see you soon!

This helps get everything including the vertebra themselves loosened up and moving freely again.
If that sounds good to you, you'll love the advanced techniques of this style.
The skilled foot of the barefoot therapist can create an awesome push-pull-pumping effect on the soft tissues around the vertebral disks that can reposition the nucleus pulposus ( a jelly like substance in side the spinal disk), moving back to it's central position, which in turn relieves spinal nerve irritations.
These irritations can be the root cause for muscle weakness, pain, numbness, and tingling in the arms, legs, or areas of the back and neck.
Barefoot massage is one of the best treatments for spinal deviations like scoliosis and hyperkyphosis, because it helps traction and decompress the entire vertebral column as well as deeply addressing tight paraspinal muscles that get pulled in unnatural ways from the exaggerated misalignment caused by either of these conditions.
Some other conditions of the spine that have benefitted from deep barefoot massage techniques are:
- Degenerative disk disease
- Sciatica
- Scoliosis
- Herniated Disks/Bulging Disks
- Other Postural Problems

So if you've been curious about barefoot massage but it sounds too "out there" or painful, I suggest giving it a try. With all these benefits, It could be the exact massage style that you've been looking for.
Oh! and to ease your fear that it maybe painful to recieve, it's been described as "The deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet." So not only does it get in deep therapeutically, it also feels relaxing and luxurious too!
what are your thoughts on this method of deep tissue massage??

This weekend I hosted a Fijian massage class in my office and we had a blast!
Many thanks to Jessica Harrison-Davis for coming to Richardson and teaching us this awesome work! Jessica was one of the few instructors to be trained by the founder of Fijian massage before she retired. She works at the Tanglewood resort in Pottsboro, TX and offers relaxation massage, deep tissue techniques, plus Ashiatsu and Fijian Massage.
Fijian massage (from the islands of Fiji) was developed by Lolita Knight over the past 20 years or so. The Fijian people are hard working folks and massage is very much a part of their culture to ensure that they can do their everyday work in top physical condition. This type of massage is another barefoot modality (style), meaning the therapist uses their feet to give the massage.
It's remarkable how feet make the most effective massage "tools."
Sure, hands feel great but when you're wanting DEEP work, feet are much better at getting in to the thicker layers of tissue where nasty trigger points or "knots" like to hang out. Not only is it deep work, but the larger surface area of the heel or the outside edge of the foot makes it relatively pain free- no bony elbows or knuckles to worry about.

It can be done anywhere and is very versatile. I KNOW that I will be offering Fijian instead of the typical chair massage when I do events from now on!

It satisfies those clients wishing for deeper pressure and is effective for treatment of deep trigger points, scar tissue, and sore tight muscles. Not to mention, it's very soothing and relaxing.
Now it's time for me to really study and practice the techniques before adding it to my massage menu. I'm sure my husband will be happy to be my practice body!
